Blenders

Blenders or liquidisers as they're sometimes referred to are useful appliances to have in the kitchen.

People often use blenders to make delicious, custom drinks but blenders can also be used to puree food and mix ingredients together for any kind of cooking. There are two types of blenders that are  oftenpresent in kitchens, the upright blender and the hand blender.

The upright blender usually has a plastic base with controls on and then a glass or plastic container that the ingrediants go in for blending together. The upright blender is very simple to use as all you have to do is throw the ingredients in and press a button. It's also a good idea to hold the lid down on the top in case it goes flying off and the kitchen gets covered with the ingredients.

The hand blender is a much different proposition and requires manual work to use. Hand blenders are normally powered by batteries and simply switched on and used manually. You can put ingredients into a deep bowl, and blend them together by pressing down and rotating the hand blender. This can often be quite labour intensive, which is why many people prefer upright blenders to hand blenders.

Blenders are excellent for people who have parties and social gatherings as they are excellent for mixing cocktails like margaritas. Blenders are also used to crush ice for use in smoothies and other cold drinks.
