Designer Kitchen Taps

Over the last few years it seems like no modern kitchen is complete without a designer tap.

The taps we have in our bathrooms and kitchens have always come in different shapes and sizes, but the evolution of the mixer tap has taken things to a whole new level.

In case you don't know, a mixer is a single tap which both hot and cold water are pumped through. These are seen as superior to the more traditional two-tap designs, as you have far more control over the temperature of the water.

Since these mixer-taps have become far more commonplace, designers have come up with all kinds of over-the-top and whacky designs. Here's an example of a designer kitchen tap:

These taps undeniably make a big design statement in your kitchen, but make sure you also think about functionality before splashing out.

To get you started, here's a great Tap Buyer's Guide which has a full glossary on the different names for taps, so you know exactly what you're looking for.

Remember, these designer taps are often quite large, so if you're planning a small kitchen design, make sure you don't spend heavily on a tap that will eat up valualble surface space. Don't make the mistake either of buying a giant tap for a relatively small sink, as this not only looks odd, but also significantly affects functionality.
