A corridor kitchen design is where two rows of countertops are positioned on opposites sides of a kitchen, thus making the remaining space appear like a corridor.
Simplify DIYIn terms of functionality, a corridor kitchen design couldn't be any better. Not only does it provide a great amount of space for storage, appliances and food preparation areas, but it also allows you to incorporate the Golden Triangle design theory into your layout.
A corridor kitchen design won't work with every kitchen though. You must have adequate space to fit two independent rows of countertops and still maintain enough space to easily move around. What you don't want to do is make a small kitchen seem even smaller by crushing as much in as possible.
That being said, for people with medium to large sized kitchens, the corridor design is certainly worth consideration.
